last post
I have started writing stuff on my own website, so i won't continue writing here. The SC2 stuff will be posted under xyious.com/Miscellaneous/Starcraft, where I will continue my quest for random glory.

Progress (almost)
I just played the best game i ever have. score screen said 'average unspent resources' was only 1300. I maxed my army and went to attack (as i usually do), but i think that was a mistake since i shouldn't really give my opponent time to get colossi.
My opponent was platinum, he only had a few games played, though. This is the third time this week that i'm matched against, and beat, a platinum player (none of them had more than 10 games played in 1v1 tho (this one had quite a few 2v2-4v4 played and is plat/diamond in all)).
I expect to get promoted to silver soon (which would be progress) since this game was 'evenly matched' and i don't even get matched against bronze players anymore (except for a few exceptions against ranked 1/2 bronze with lots of games played and likely a matchmaking rank higher than bronze).

First Zerg Game
Obviously got my ass handed to me in my first ZvP matchup, i thought i was playing fairly well, although my strategy was bound to lose. he went with a 1 base all in, that i knew about .... but he just didn't make any warp gate units at all and just kicked my ass with void rays, or canons as the case may be. he attacked me and i figured i could just take him out by killing his base, which should have worked if it wasn't for the shitload of canons. so obviously i lost my army to the canons and couldn't hold off his void rays.
guess i shouldn't attempt a base trade and just focus on holding off the attack and starving him.
played a quick PvP where my opponent left within 2 minutes, i had the advantage but that obviously doesn't say too much, i figure he just had to go.
Then i played a TvP (i play random in case you didn't read my first post) where it ended up being Thor vs Colossus. I thought i did very well in that game, only got supply blocked once and after i already started building the depot. my opponent was quite smart about attacking and did a lot of damage, i just had him outnumbered too badly for him to have a chance i think.

Build Orders
I figure i should concentrate on a few build orders and refine them as much as i can.
I'm starting to like thors, so for terran i think i will go with 3 racks, factory, quite possibly expand, then add at least one more factory. I have always played more of a macro game and i don't cheese so i generally expand reasonably early.
As protoss i like void rays, but i can't really get there while holding off a 4gate or any of the other races early pushes, so i'll go with 2 gate robo, get colossi relatively early and probably not build a starport unless the game is really long.
I suck hard at zerg and haven't played any zerg matches since making this blog, so it's fairly hard to decide. most people go with a roach heavy army, but i don't like roaches that much since they take gas. i will most likely go for an early hive and mutas, depending on how much pressure i get early i will either make some roaches or just try to hold with queens and lings.
I would definitely like some input on zerg early macro and build orders. i love the idea of mass queens, ultralisks and transfuse. but getting ultras takes quite a while.
Adjustments in the early game: against a fast expand i will nearly always try to just end the game before the expansion is up. which is gonna be fairly easy when playing terran not quite that easy when playing protoss, and as zerg i will just early expand myself.

Quick morning TvP
just played one game so far today (2 yesterday, one of them 2v2) that i thought i played fairly well, didn't really ever get supply blocked built what i thought were the right structures. i did have a complete clusterfuck early where i didn't even manage to build an scv for like 7 seconds after the game started.
i did attack and get killed when i should have just pulled back since there was just no way i was going to win and he did get me with storms when i had a huge marine ball which also sucked, and i never built any medivacs. pretty sure i expanded at roughly the right times, and i think i had fairly good mechanics the whole game.

First Game
TvT on delta quadrant....
horrible mistakes of mine: early game was pretty bad, got supply blocked after 2 supply depots, wasn't constantly making marines.... then i attacked his gold and failed to take it down, which was just horrible.

Introduction
greetings.
I'm gonna make this blog expecting about 3 followers, at the most, 2 of them friends of mine.... i would be very happy about more than that tho.
This blog will be about my quest to get into master's league as random, 1v1 obviously. Currently i'm in bronze league, don't really have any practice partners, haven't played a whole lot of random, and am overall pretty far from a good player. When i do play my best i can generally beat even the top players in bronze, but i keep making stupid little mistakes, as i guess can be expected from someone who hasn't played sc in a long time before getting sc2 and only played about 200 games since. I will keep playing protoss in 2v2 since i don't think it would be fair to a random ally to play a race that i have played a total of like 10 league games as, none of them in team matches.
So to summarize I will try to get into master's league playing random and i will try to document the journey there.
Right now my best race is protoss, I have fairly good macro, not that great mechanics and almost non existing micro. i don't get supply blocked too often, i get a good amount of units out fairly quick and i make decent decisions for the tech switches.
Terran is my 2nd best race. I've played terran a lot before making the switch to protoss and won a good amount of games. i never really switched to higher tech units and so i lost almost every long game i played before switching to protoss. recently i've been getting much better at that tho.
Zerg is my worst race and it's not even close to the other 2. I don't have much of an idea about unit compositions, abilities of the units, what use certain units have.... etc etc etc. in short i suck at zerg.
I will be writing about the games i play, i will post replays, i will try to document my progress and i will try to give advice to those that want to do the same thing (i hear it's a bad idea to play random in bronze, i hear you should pick one race and stick to it until macro and mechanics are up to speed and you have a fairly good idea about units and their abilities and have enough micro ability to actually use them before switching to random).
comments are always appreciated, and so are reviews of the replays i post. don't go easy with the critique either, i'm grateful for anyone who will take the time to critique other people's stuff.
